The piston pushes the mineral oil through the main body to the driven piston, and then the driven piston squeezes the gasket onto the rotor. Compared with purely mechanical disc brakes (such as TRP Spyre or Avid's workhorse BB7), the claimed advantages of hybrid calipers include increased power, a more aggressive feel, and better resistance to weather and road dirt.
